Origin of name

About the name De Bonte Koe

It is derived from the red and white cows that grazed the meadows of Schiedam - Kethel.
The cradle of Kees Klein, one of the founders of De Bonte Koe, was in a house next to his uncles' farm on the Polderweg. In his youth, he spent a lot of time there. His uncles' cows were fattened up in a short time by feeding them swill, a calorie- and protein-rich residual product from the Schiedam gin industry, and were the pride of the family.

The cows in the stables are swill fed.

Kees' great uncle brought swill to the cows in the meadow.
