De Bonte Koe Chocolade has developed a bonbon with three natural ingredients that can have an aphrodisiac effect. The chocolate company collaborated with The Oh Collective, which sells intimate wellness products for women worldwide. The bonbon, dubbed "Date Night Sex Bonbon," is sold exclusively by The Oh Collective starting today.
The three ingredients in the bonbon that can act as an aphrodisiac are horny goat weed, ashwagandha, and Korean ginseng. The herb horny goat weed (yin yang huo in Chinese) is also called fairy flower or epimedium. Ashwagandha (withania somnifera) is the root of a shrub and is also called Indian ginseng. Korean ginseng (panax ginseng) is also the root of a shrub. These three herbs are incorporated into a passion fruit and caramel filling. The chocolate used for the bonbon is dark chocolate (vegan).
The Oh Collective was founded by four daughters of first-generation Asian immigrants. The company develops intimate wellness products for women, focusing on women's needs. Global sales are primarily online through its own website, but also in physical stores and online through third-party retailers, including Selfridges (London). For the first time, The Oh Collective opened its own store: a pop-up store at Zeedijk 67 in Amsterdam (from September 22 to October 1, 2023). The limited-edition "Date Night Sex Bonbon" was available at the pop-up store's opening.
One of the four founders of The Oh Collective lives in Rotterdam and is a customer of De Bonte Koe. She approached Amy Klein, who co-owns De Bonte Koe with her brother Connor Klein, to see if the chocolate company would be interested in developing the bonbon. "When we started looking into their business, we were impressed by the range they've developed and how they market it. That's why we were happy to enter into this new partnership," says Amy Klein. "It not only gives us the opportunity to learn from their approach but also to gain more experience with the functional application of ingredients in our products. Earlier this year, we did the same in collaboration with artist Bob Mollema with three chocolate bars featuring mushrooms that can combat stress, anxiety, and fatigue, among other things."

The company also has a chocolate vending machine at Hoogstraat 69 in Schiedam.
