The De Bonte Koe store at Nieuwe Binnenweg 112 in Rotterdam is closed due to a large-scale renovation. The store will reopen on Thursday 5 October. Customers can now also go there for a chocolate tasting.
Design agency Ninetynine developed a new brand image for De Bonte Koe, which will be visible on the website and in all other expressions of the company and which will also be implemented in the interior of the stores. The new website of De Bonte Koe will go live soon. The stores on the Lusthofstraat in Rotterdam (Kralingen) and the Piet Heinstraat in The Hague (Zeeheldenbuurt) have already been furnished according to the new brand image. After the reopening, this will also be the case for the store on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. Furniture maker De zingende zaag from Maassluis is the company that is carrying out the renovation and store interior. The counter where the handmade chocolate products of De Bonte Koe are clearly visible to the customers and are sold, takes up the largest part of the store.
In addition, customers can enjoy a chocolate tasting on comfortable stools, at the extension of the counter or at a separate bar table opposite: bonbons or bouchées with a cup of coffee or tea or a soft drink. Next to this 'chocolate café', behind a transparent glass wall, is the chocolate studio, where customers can see a chocolatier from De Bonte Koe at work if necessary. By combining shopping, tasting and watching, customers can experience the artisanal chocolate products from De Bonte Koe better and the products offered are better appreciated. "We were very well received on the Nieuwe Binnenweg three years ago, when we started there as a pop-up store. The store is successful. It has not been a pop-up for a long time, but a store that has become an indispensable part of the Nieuwe Binnenweg", says Amy Klein, who - together with her brother Connor Klein - owns De Bonte Koe. She continues: "This
part of the Nieuwe Binnenweg has developed very positively in recent years, into a street that is known for its high-quality food and lifestyle items. You see that more and more people are making a round here along shops such as Koekela, Vlaamsch Broodhuys, 'Een bloemetje op tafel', Mascolori shoes and Joline Jolink fashion. A few doors down from our shop, Susan Bijl opened her new shop yesterday and soon Ace & Tate glasses will open in the same row.”De Bonte Koe will officially open the renovated shop on Thursday 5 October from 16:00 to 20:00 in an informal manner.
